Meet Corvus the Crow: Corvus is a small Constellation in the Southem Celestial Hemisphere.Its name means “crow” in Latin .One Of the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd-century astronomer Ptolemy,it depicts a raven ,a bird associated with stories about the god Apollo .A favorite contstellation for many, little squarish Corvus the Crow is not far from Spica,the only bright star in the constellation Virgo..With a good imagination and a dark-enough sky,you can almost see Corvus as a real crow,pecking toward Spica.Corvus constellation represents Apollos sacred bird in Greek mythology.
There are many legends in skylore about Corvus.A lovely one comes from China,where this grouping of stars was seen as an imperial chariot,riding on the wide.In ancient lsrael,and somethimes in Greek mythology Corvus was said to be a raven ,not a crow.The early Greeks saw Corvus as a cupbearer to Apollo, god of the sun.And thus the stories of the heavens were born.
